F*%#ing Adelaide (AU)
The 15-minute-long episodes of this short-form comedy-drama are told from the individual perspectives of six family members, who reunite in Adelaide and learn that their mum plans to sell the family home. Any sense of togetherness quickly crumbles to reveal how messed up and glorious it is to be home.
The series stars Kate Box (Rake, Wentworth), Tilda Cobham-Hervey (Hotel Mumbai, The Kettering Incident), Brendan Maclean (The Great Gatsby, Laid), Audrey Mason-Hyde (52 Tuesdays, Rapture), Pamela Rabe (Wentworth, The Secret Life of Us), and Beau Travis Williams (The Hunting, 52 Tuesdays).
F*%#ing Adelaide premieres in the US on Thursday, February 13, exclusively on Topic and its digital channels, including the Topic channel on Amazon.
The Other Guy: Season 2 (AU)
In the first season of this comedy-drama series, successful radio host AJ (series creator and writer Matt Okine, Stateless, The Heart Guy) found himself back in the dating pool for the first time in a decade after he discovered his long-term girlfriend, Olivia (Valene Kane, The Fall, Thirteen), was having an affair with his now-former best friend, Henry (Luke Ford, Cleverman).
The new season finds a post-breakup and -breakdown AJ relaunching his career by starring in a new reality TV series about his life, his ex, and their split. The only thing between him and the TV contract is a drug test, for which AJ gets help from his still best friend, Stevie (Harriet Dyer, No Activity, Janet King), to pass. What’s more, Olivia is pregnant, and the baby may or may not be AJ’s.
Joining returning cast members Michael-Anthony Taylor (Pine Gap) and Christiaan Van Vuuren (Top of the Lake) are Claudia Karvan (Newton’s Law, The Time of Our Lives) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Romper Stomper).
The Other Guy: Season 2 premieres in the US on Friday, February 14, exclusively on Hulu.
Playing for Keeps (AU)
Set on the sidelines of professional football in Australia, this contemporary drama centers on the lives of the real power players of the (fictional) Southern Jets Football Club: the WAGs — the wives and girlfriends of the players. Away from the grandstands and the locker rooms, theirs is a world filled with glamorous lifestyles, designer fashions, and scandal-making dramas that get played out in the flesh and across social media.
The cast includes Madeleine West (Neighbours, Rescue Special Ops), Annie Maynard (Dead Lucky, Spirited), Cecelia Peters (The Wrong Girl, Catching Milat), Olympia Valance (Informer 3838, Neighbours), and Isabella Giovinazzo (Home and Away, Reef Break).
Playing for Keeps premieres in the US on Thursday, February 20, exclusively on Sundance Now and its digital channels, including the Sundance Now channel on Amazon.
NON-PREMIERE PROGRAMS BEING ADDED TO STREAMING SERVICES
ANZAC Girls (AU)
This acclaimed miniseries recounts the largely untold true stories of brave Australian and New Zealand army nurses who served in World War I. Based on Peter Rees‘s book The Other ANZACs (titled ANZAC Girls in later editions), and drawing on the real nurses’ letters, journals, and historical records, the drama follows the women as they travel halfway across the world to serve in the Australian Army Nursing Service. They face the carnage of Gallipoli and the Western front, horrific living conditions, prejudice, and devastating personal loss. But in rising to meet the challenge, they find love and lasting friendship.
The six-part series stars Antonia Prebble (Westside, Sisters), Georgia Flood (House Husbands, Tangle), Caroline Craig (Underbelly, Blue Heelers), Anna McGahan (Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Doctor Blake Mysteries), and Laura Brent (Secret City, Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS).
ANZAC Girls begins streaming Monday, February 3, on Acorn TV and its digital channels, including the Acorn TV channel on Amazon.
