The Gulf is one of five titles that Sundance Now acquired from leading international TV distributor Banijay Rights. (Read about the Euro TV titles in this article.)

The series centers around the moral disintegration of DSS Jess Savage (Kate Elliott, Wentworth, Dear Murderer), a detective who finds herself caught between upholding the legal justice system, as well as morality, as she investigates crimes on her home patch of Waiheke Island, New Zealand.

The six-episode mystery-crime thriller costars Ido Drent (Offspring, The Making of the Mob), Mark Mitchinson (Straight Forward, Dear Murderer), Alison Bruce (Top of the Lake, The Almighty Johnsons), and Pana Hema Taylor (Westside, The Brokenwood Mysteries).

An international co-production of Screentime New Zealand, Lippy Pictures, and Letterbox Filmproduktion, The Gulf premieres in the US beginning Wednesday, December 4, exclusively on Sundance Now.
