Netflix has set the premiere date for Season 2 of the hit Aussie teen drama Surviving Summer.
The new season of Surviving Summer opens a year after the events in Season 1, when rebellious American teen Summer Torres (Sky Katz, Raven’s Home) was sent to live with family friends in the small surfing town of Shorehaven in Victoria, Australia, after being expelled from school. Then, after making waves amongst her peers, she made the best friends she’d ever had, and a romance blossomed with Ari Gibson (Kai Lewins, The Twelve).
Inspired by that magical time in Shorehaven, Summer’s been surfing constantly in the unforgiving breaks around Rockaway Beach, New York, prompting the formation of a new dream: return to Shorehaven and become a career surfer, like her Aussie mates. Summer’s mother, Margot (Kate Beahan, Troppo), finally relents and says yes to a trip down under, but this time she’s going, too, to keep an eye on her unpredictable daughter.
Poppy (Lilliana Bowrey), Bodhi (Savannah La Rain, Mako Mermaids), and Marlon (João Gabriel Marinho) are delighted to have Summer back, although Ari’s feelings are more complicated. But no one can believe it when Summer announces she wants to make the State Team and compete at Nationals, just like them. Their jaws drop all over again when Summer crashes a final in the middle of the tryouts and rips. She’s not just good; she’s a contender. The problem is, when Summer miraculously makes the team, she also makes a mortal enemy of the team captain: Ari’s new girlfriend, Wren (Annabel Wolfe, Black Snow).
Surviving Summer, a Netflix Original, premieres globally on Friday, September 15, exclusively on Netflix.
In addition to Annabel Wolfe, Olympia Valance (Neighbours) and Josh MacQueen (Black Snow) also join the Season 2 cast.
