Dominic Ona-Ariki (The Commons) and Joel Tobeck (The Doctor Blake Mysteries) are back for the second season of One Lane Bridge, which revolves around a new murder case surrounding the eponymous infamous Queenstown landmark.

In the new five-episode season, Detective Ariki Davis (Ona-Ariki) uses his matakite — a supernatural ability akin to second sight — to save his boss Tremaine (Tobeck) from attempting suicide on One Lane Bridge. But in doing so, he inadvertently triggers a cataclysmic chain of events that unleashes fierce rivalries, uncovers long-buried secrets, and claims the life of one of Ariki’s nearest and dearest. Burdened by his second sight, Ariki’s loyalties are tested as he navigates a murder investigation rife with ulterior motives and conflicts of interest — including his own.

Centered around the political hotbed of water rights, which is the key to unlocking a billion-dollar satellite town project, passionate young eco-activists go to war with the Queenstown business elite, as the case builds to a deadly and disturbing climax.

Also returning for the new season are Alison Bruce (The Gulf), Michelle Langstone (800 Words), Jared Turner (The Almighty Johnsons), Phil Brown (The Brokenwood Mysteries), Nathalie Morris (Bump), Alex Walker (Shortland Street), Phoebe McKellar (Straight Forward), and Matt Chamberlain (Alibi).

A production of Great Southern Television for TVNZ, in association with All3media International, the series is written by Pip Hall (800 Words) and directed by Peter Burger (The Dead Lands). Kathleen Anderson and Philip Smith are the executive producers, and Lisa Chatfield and Luke Robinson the producers.

One Lane Bridge: Season 2 premieres in the US and Canada on Thursday, October 7, exclusively on Sundance Now and its apps and digital channels, including Sundance Now on Amazon Channels, and the AMC+ streaming bundle. New episodes debut every Thursday through November 4.
