NATIONAL PREMIERES

SeaChange: Paradise Reclaimed (AU)

This 2019 reboot of the award-winning 1990s Australian drama series is set 20 years after the finale of Series 3 and features original cast members Sigrid Thornton (Lambs of God, Wentworth, The Code), Kerry Armstrong (Bed of Roses, Frayed), and John Howard (Mad Max: Fury Road, All Saints).

After losing her job in Africa, Laura Gibson (Thornton) returns to the beachside paradise of Pearl Bay after being away for two decades. Here she finds her estranged daughter Miranda (Brooke Satchwell, Mr Inbetween) is about to give birth to a baby that Laura knows nothing about. Meanwhile, with dodgy land deals threatening Pearl Bay and stormy weather on the way, Laura will learn that her family and her town need her as much as she needs them.

Costars include Dan Wyllie (Romper Stomper), Darren McMullen (House Husbands), Katrina Milosevic (Wentworth), Kate Lister (Bad Mothers), Alex Tarrant (800 Words), Wayne Blair (Mystery Road), and Kamil Ellis (Nowhere Boys).

Seachange: Paradise Reclaimed premieres in the US and Canada on Monday, June 1, exclusively on Acorn TV and its digital channels, including Acorn TV on Amazon Channels, where Series 1-3 are currently available for streaming.

NON-PREMIERE PROGRAMS BEING ADDED TO LINEAR TV

The Heart Guy: Season 1

Rodger Corser (The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Glitch, Rush) stars in this popular, Logie Awards-nominated drama series as bad boy doctor Hugh Knight, a talented heart surgeon whose hedonistic lifestyle in Sydney lands him in serious trouble after a night of hard partying. While the medical tribunal doesn’t ban him from medicine altogether, it does strike him off from surgical practice for a year and forces him to work during this period as a GP at an under-resourced rural cottage hospital — in his hometown of Whyhope, where his estranged family still lives.

While under the watchful gaze of his new boss (and urine tester) Penny (Hayley McElhinney, The Babadook), Hugh learns and dispenses medical treatment outback style, including administering antivenom medication and tending to patients in locations ranging from the office to the farm to a paddock full of explosive booby traps.

Meanwhile, everyone in town except Penny thinks Hugh’s on a sabbatical and working at the hospital to give back to the community. This lie might save face for Hugh, but it does nothing to change the truth that he can’t save one of his old friends from dying.

Costars include Nicole da Silva (Wentworth), Ryan Johnson (Out of the Blue), Tina Bursill (Home and Away), Chloe Bayliss (Reef Doctors), Matt Castley (Blind), Belinda Bromilow (Spirited), Charles Wu (Secret City), Steve Bisley (Water Rats), and Shalom Brune-Franklin (Bad Mothers).

The Heart Guy: Season 1 begins airing on KCET on Thursday, June 18, at 9 PM PT.

NON-PREMIERE PROGRAMS BEING ADDED TO STREAMING SERVICES

McLeod’s Daughters: Series 1-2 (AU)

The first two seasons of this Logie Awards winner for Most Popular Australian Drama follows two sisters — fiercely independent and courageous Claire McLeod (Lisa Chappell, City Life) and her long-estranged half-sister Tess (Bridie Carter, 800 Words), a city girl hell-bent on changing the world — who are reunited when they inherit a vast cattle property in the Australian bush. The two pull together an all-female workforce and, with an abundance of heart and humor, commit to an extraordinary life at Drovers Run, a patch of land the size of a small country.

Costars include Aaron Jeffery (Janet King), Jessica Napier (Rescue Special Ops), Rachael Carpani (800 Words), Myles Pollard (Underbelly), Sonia Todd (Rake), and Rodger Corser (The Heart Guy).

McLeod’s Daughters: Series 1 begins streaming Monday, June 1, on Acorn TV and its digital channels, including Acorn TV on Amazon Channels. Series 2 begins streaming June 22.
