NATIONAL PREMIERES

True Spirit (AU)

True Spirit tells the incredible true story of Australian teenager Jessica Watson (Teagan Croft, Titans, Home and Away). In this tale of perseverance and human accomplishment, tenacious young sailor Jessica Watson sets out to be the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted around the world. Despite many expecting her to fail, Jessica forges ahead with the support of her sailing coach and mentor Ben Bryant, and her parents, Julie and Roger — determined to face her fears and accomplish what was thought to be impossible: navigating some of the world’s most challenging stretches of ocean over the course of 210 days.

Costars include Cliff Curtis (Avatar: The Way of Water, Whale Rider) as Ben Bryant, Josh Lawson (The Eleven O’Clock, The Little Death) as Roger Watson, and Anna Paquin (The Piano, The Irishman) as Julie Watson. Also featuring in the film are Bridget Webb (Harrow), Vivien Turner (How to Stay Married), Stacy Clausen (Preacher), and Todd Lasance (The Secrets She Keeps).

True Spirit, a Netflix Film, premieres globally on Friday, February 3, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

Black Snow (AU)

Deeply rooted in its North Queensland setting, this six-episode series is part coming-of-age drama, part whodunit. In 1995, seventeen-year-old Isabel Baker (Talijah Blackman-Corowa) was murdered. The crime shocked the small town of Ashford and devastated Isabel’s Australian South Sea Islander community. The case was never solved, the killer never found. But in 2020, the opening of a time capsule unearths a secret that puts cold-case Detective James Cormack (Travis Fimmel, Vikings, That Dirty Black Bag, Raised By Wolves) on the trail of the killer.

Black Snow, a Sundance Now Original co-produced with Australia’s Stan, premieres in the US and Canada with two episodes on Thursday, February 23, exclusively on Sundance Now and its digital channels, including Sundance Now on Amazon and the AMC+ streaming bundle.
