My Life Is Murder: Hit Lucy Lawless Whodunit Returning with Season 5

Fans of My Life Is Murder, rejoice! Season 5 of the hit whodunit series starring Lucy Lawless will premiere later this year. Woo hoo!

My Life Is Murder is a delightful show, filled with clever stories and lots of humor. So, hooray that Acorn TV has commissioned this fan-favorite mystery drama for a fifth season, which is currently in production in Auckland, New Zealand.

For folks who aren’t familiar with My Life Is Murder, the series stars Lucy Lawless (Spartacus, Xena: Warrior Princess) as Alexa Crowe, a fearless and unapologetic private investigator who solves puzzling cases in Auckland with a little help from her friends. They include: tech guru Madison (Ebony Vagulans, The Furies), who contributes her considerable technical (as well as acting and snooping) skills to the investigations; cafe owner Reuben (Joe Naufahu, Game of Thrones), who’s always there to lend a helping hand; and Detective Harry (Rawiri Jobe, Shortland Street), who brings Alexa in on the cases for which he needs her help.

Season 5 sees eight new cases featuring dangerous villains that only Alexa can catch. And there’s more! It turns out that Detective Harry has been hiding a rather big secret, and Alexa’s bad boy brother, Will (Martin Henderson, Virgin River), drops in on her with a dilemma of his own. Last but not least, in the series’ highest-stakes episode to date, Alexa’s beloved cat, Chowder, gets caught up in a risky game of cat-and-mouse!

In addition to the series’ regular cast, Oscar® nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider, Game of Thrones, FBI: Most Wanted) and Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level, Our Flag Means Death, Flight of the Conchords) join the cast as guest stars.
