NATIONAL PREMIERES

The Rule of Jenny Pen (NZ)

Based on “The Rule of Jenny Pen,” a short story by New Zealand author Owen Marshall, this horror thriller film centers on two individuals: One is Judge Stefan Mortensen (Geoffrey Rush, “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, Genius), an arrogant man who suffers a near-fatal stroke, leaving him partially paralyzed and confined to a retirement home. The other is Dave Crealy (John Lithgow, Conclave, The Old Man), a fellow resident with whom Mortensen clashes.

On the surface, Crealy seems to be a gentle man, but in actuality he is secretly terrorizing the home with a sadistic game called “The Rule of Jenny Pen” while wielding his dementia doll as an instrument of cruelty. When Mortensen’s pleas to the staff go unanswered, he takes it upon himself to put an end to Crealy’s reign of terror.

Written and directed by James Ashcroft (Coming Home in the Dark), The Rule of Jenny Pen, a Shudder Original Film, premieres in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, and Ireland on Friday, March 28, exclusively on Shudder, AMC+, and their digital channels, including Shudder on Prime Channels and AMC+ on Prime Channels, where available.

The Last Anniversary (AU)

Based on The Last Anniversary, the #1 New York Times best-selling novel by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers), this brand-new drama series is set on the Scribbly Gum Island, a place of many secrets. The one that made it famous — the disappearance of a young couple decades ago — might have made the island a destination for true-crime tourists, but when it comes to secrets, the three generations of women that call Scribbly Gum home hold far more.

When Sophie Honeywell (Teresa Palmer, A Discovery of Witches) inherits a house on the island, it’s the fresh start she’s been craving, despite the unwelcome reception that she receives on arrival. As she begins to look into the mysteries of the island, she uncovers far more than she ever expected…

Executive produced by Academy Award® winner Nicole Kidman (Babygirl, The Perfect Couple), the series costars Miranda Richardson (Fate: The Winx Saga), Danielle Macdonald (The Tourist), Helen Thomson (Colin from Accounts), Susan Prior (Aftertaste), Claude Scott-Mitchell (Hotel Portofino), Charlie Garber (Sisters), Uli Latukefu (The Heart Guy), and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart), amongst others.

The Last Anniversary, a Sundance Now Original Series, premieres in the US and Canada on Sunday, March 30, exclusively on Sundance Now, AMC+, and their digital channels, including Sundance Now on Prime Channels and AMC+ on Prime Channels.
