Mystery thriller series Troppo is based on New York Times best-selling author Candice Fox’s “Crimson Lake” crime novels.

Adapted from the first book, Crimson Lake, Season 1 of Troppo follows Ted Conkaffey (Thomas Jane, The Expanse), a disgraced ex-cop who, after being falsely accused of a disturbing crime, escapes to the (fictional) rural town of Crimson Lake, located in the tropics of Far North Queensland, Australia. Here he meets Amanda Pharrell (Nicole Chamoun, The Gloaming), an eccentric private investigator with a criminal past, who recruits him to help her solve the case of a Korean family man and tech pioneer who disappeared.

Season 2 is based on the novel Redemption Point, the second title in the “Crimson Lake” book series. Opening six months after the events in Season 1, the new season finds the unlikely duo of Ted and Amanda investigating the bizarre local murder of a healing retreat leader with connections to an exotic drug ring and a “bikie” gang. While Amanda tangles with an old enemy and finds a new love interest, Ted’s past stalks him and his family to Crimson Lake — with deadly consequences.

Troppo: Season 2 premieres in the US, UK, Germany, and Austria on Thursday, July 25, on both Prime Video and Amazon Freevee.

Returning cast includes Radha Mitchell (Neighbours) as Kelly Conkaffey, Simon Lyndon (Mystery Road) as Ezra “Twist” Cole, Angela Punch McGregor (Love My Way) as Dr. Val, Ling Cooper Tang (The Secrets She Keeps) as DI Hench, and Sara West (Dead Lucky) as Brooke.

Joining the cast are Zindzi Okenyo (Deadloch) as Detective Sweeney, Ursula Yovich (The Royal Hotel) as Ronnie, Miah Madden (Paper Dolls) as Tayla, Ethan Lwin (Human Error) as Raph, Chloe Delle-Vedove as Lilly Conkaffey, and Brett Tucker (Station 19) as Colin.

The series is created and adapted for television by Yolanda Ramke (New Gold Mountain). Lisa Duff is the producer and Karl Zwicky the series producer. The executive producers are Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and co-executive producer Matt Bankston (AGC Studios); Greg Quail and Lisa Duff (Perpetual Entertainment); Mikael Borglund and David Ogilvy (Beyond Entertainment); Thomas Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn (Renegade Entertainment); and Yolanda Ramke.

Troppo is a Perpetual Entertainment and Beyond Entertainment production for studio AGC Television in association with Renegade Entertainment, with major production financing from AGC Studios in association with Screen Queensland and with support from the city of Gold Coast.
