Netflix has announced its renewal of Heartbreak High, the global hit teen drama series, for a third and final season.
The news comes a month after Season 2 of Heartbreak High dropped on Netflix, where it premiered as one of the most popular shows in Australia and around the world on the streaming service. It debuted at #1 in Australia and stayed on the Global Top 10 English TV Series list for three consecutive weeks. On social media, the evolving love triangles, new students, and iconic one-liners had #HeartbreakHigh reaching over 2 billion views on TikTok.
Season 3 will see the talented cast and creators reassemble in Sydney (Gadigal, Dharug, Dharawal, and Ku-ring-gai lands), Australia, for the final year at Hartley High.
Heartbreak High, a re-imagining of the iconic Australian TV series of the same name (also streaming on Netflix), follows the students and staff at Hartley High as they navigate all manner of teen and teacher angst — from romance and betrayal, to racial tension and abuse.
Amongst its accolades, the series won the 2023 International Emmy® Award for Best Kids: Live-Action and the 2023 Logie Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor (Thomas Weatherall). In 2022, it won the AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama (Thomas Weatherall), Best Screenplay in Television (Hannah Carroll Chapman), and Best Costume Design in Television (Rita Carmody), as well as three Audience Choice Awards for Best TV Show, Best Actor (Bryn Chapman-Parish), and Best Actress (Chloe Hayden).
A production of Fremantle Australia and NewBe, the series is created by Hannah Carroll Chapman, who serves as co-executive producer alongside Carly Heaton. Sarah Freeman is the producer and Anna Curtis is the associate producer.
