This isn’t your parents’ vampire series. More akin to zombie drama The Walking Dead than to the classic vampire series Dark Shadows, Firebite follows two Indigenous Australian hunters on their quest to battle the last colony of vampires in the middle of the South Australian desert.

Reckless, swaggering Tyson (Rob Collins, Mystery Road, Cleverman) and 17-year-old orphan Shanika (Shantae Barnes-Cowan, Total Control, Operation Buffalo) stand vanguard to the war that is coming. A war in which they will face a vampire colony — the last vampire stronghold shipped from Britain to Australia in 1788 by the colonial superpower to eradicate the Indigenous populations — that is growing is numbers in the underground mines and tunnels surrounding a remote desert mining town. A vampire colony that is also growing in hunger…

Costarring Yael Stone (Orange is the New Black) and Callan Mulvey (Avengers: End Game), the eight-episode Firebite premieres in the US on Thursday, December 16, exclusively on AMC+. New episodes will debut weekly on the premium streaming bundle.
