NATIONAL PREMIERES
One Lane Bridge: Season 2 (NZ)
In the new season of this supernatural crime drama, Detective Ariki Davis (Dominic Ona-Ariki, The Commons) uses his matakite — a supernatural ability akin to second sight — to save his boss Tremaine (Joel Tobeck, The Doctor Blake Mysteries) from attempting suicide on One Lane Bridge, the infamous Queenstown landmark. But in doing so, he inadvertently triggers a cataclysmic chain of events that unleashes fierce rivalries, uncovers long-buried secrets, and claims the life of one of Ariki’s nearest and dearest. Burdened by his second sight, Ariki’s loyalties are tested as he navigates a murder investigation rife with ulterior motives and conflicts of interest — including his own.
Centered around the political hotbed of water rights, which is the key to unlocking a billion-dollar satellite town project, passionate young eco-activists go to war with the Queenstown business elite, as the case builds to a deadly and disturbing climax.
One Lane Bridge: Season 2 premieres in the US and Canada on Thursday, October 7, exclusively on Sundance Now and its apps and digital channels, including Sundance Now on Amazon Channels, and the AMC+ streaming bundle. New episodes debut every Thursday through November 4.
Trial in the Outback: The Lindy Chamberlain Story (AU)
This three-part docuseries explores the case that has figured in Australia’s collective conscious since 1980, when a dingo took Lindy Chamberlain’s 9-week-old baby in a random horrific attack in the Australian Outback. But it quickly turned into more than that, resulting in the trial of the century and Australia’s most notorious miscarriage of justice. With little evidence, Lindy was convicted of murder, and she spent the next 30 years trying to prove her innocence.
Through exclusive interviews with Lindy, her children, and eyewitnesses today, along with archival footage and broadcasts and — for the first time — access to Lindy’s personal archive of family stills, movies, audio recordings and letters, this revelatory docuseries tells a compelling, universal story that still resonates today.
Trial in the Outback: The Lindy Chamberlain Story premieres in the US and Canada in its entirety on Tuesday, October 12, exclusively on Sundance Now and its apps and digital channels, including Sundance Now on Amazon Channels, and the AMC+ streaming bundle.
Wakefield (AU)
Inspired by the personal experiences of series creator Kristen Dunphy (The Principal), this psychological drama shines a comedic light on what happens when the sanest person working in a psych ward begins to lose his grip. The eight-episode drama stars Rudi Dharmalingam (The Split, Tin Star) as Nik Katira, a psych nurse who has been working at Wakefield for years and is exceptionally good at his job. With a gift for soothing the afflicted and reaching the unreachable, Nik is the most stable person in what tends to be a pretty crazy place. But right now, as his own sanity is slipping, the question is… why?
Wakefield premieres in the US on Monday, October 18, at 9 PM ET/PT, on Showtime and its apps and digital channels, including Showtime on Amazon Channels.
Wentworth: Season 9 (AU)
The final season of this global hit drama brings to a close the stories of the inmates and staff of the titular prison. It opens three weeks after that explosive Season 8 finale, in which new inmate Judy Bryant (Vivienne Awosoga, Rosehaven) showed her true colors and Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe, The Hunting) regained her memory, amongst other omg moments.
In the season opener, Allie (Kate Jenkinson, Five Bedrooms) returns to the compound much worse for wear. Joan turns to Dr. Miller (David de la Tour, Westside) for help for her murderous rages. An inmate commits a brazen murder. And this is just the start…
Wentworth: Season 9 premieres in the US on Wednesday, October 27, exclusively on Netflix.
NON-PREMIERE PROGRAMS BEING ADDED TO STREAMING SERVICES
Cleverman: Seasons 1 & 2 (AU)
Set in the near future, this action-packed sci-fi drama brings the Dreamtime of Aboriginal mythology to life. The “Hairies,” a minority group endowed with the extraordinary physical traits of incredible strength, speed and longevity, are the target of a xenophobic society — one in which they battle for survival against humans who feel increasingly inferior to them and want to silence, exploit, and kill them.
Meanwhile, estranged Indigenous brothers Koen (Hunter Page-Lochard, Harrow) and Waruu (Rob Collins, Mystery Road) are forced together to fight for their own survival, as Koen, struggling with his own power and the responsibility he has as the Cleverman, must unite a world divided before fear, hate and greed destroy civilization.
The series costars Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), Frances O’Connor (The End), Deborah Mailman (Total Control), Tasma Walton (Rake), Rarriwuy Hick (Wentworth), Jada Alberts (Mystery Road), and Tamala Shelton (Nowhere Boys).
Cleverman: Season 1 begins streaming Saturday, October 2, on AMC+, followed by Season 2 on October 9.
