Today Peacock dropped the official trailer for the second season of its Original Australian drama Five Bedrooms.

Five Bedrooms, one of my favorite new shows of 2020, returns to the US in just a couple of weeks, and I cannot wait!

For folks who might not be familiar with this lovely and humorous drama, it centers on five men and women who, after meeting at the singles’ table at a wedding and drinking lots of champagne, decide to buy a house together. The reality of their grand social experiment doesn’t really sink in until they start moving in — and realize that they actually have to live with each other now.

The five are Liz Wendell (Kat Stewart, Offspring), a lawyer; Harry Sethi (Roy Joseph, Back in Very Small Business), a surgeon and Liz’s gay best friend; Ben Chigwell (Stephen Peacocke, Home and Away), a contractor; Ainsley Elling (Katie Robertson, Rosehaven), a real estate agent; and Heather Doyle (Doris Younane, McLeod’s Daughters), a nurse and Ainsley’s former landlady, who joined them after Lachlan Best (Hugh Sheridan, Packed to the Rafters), Ainsley’s married colleague and love interest, got back with his wife and bailed on them.

By the end of Season 1, divorcée Liz was in a very different place, and her situation impacted all of her housemates. But there were life changes for her housemates, too, including new love and a pregnancy.

In Season 2, we can look forward to more life-turning crises and moments of love, joy, and heartbreak amongst this one-of-a-kind family — starting with them house-hunting again after losing their first communal home at an auction and believing they have prevailed as a unique collective. Although this was not what they had imagined for their lives, these five individuals continue to endure in the face of challenges — from a new home, a DIY renovation, and an injury, to two pregnancies and one ex-husband, to a workplace bullying complaint and an unexpected tragedy where love will be lost and found.

Returning cast members include Kumud Merani (Spice Sisters) as Harry’s mum, Manju, and Kate Jenkinson (Wentworth) as Lachlan’s wife, Melanie. Joining the cast is Josh McKenzie (Bad Mothers) as Harry’s new love interest, Xavier. And guest starring in the new season is Rodger Corser (The Heart Guy) as Liz’s ex-husband.

Created by Michael Lucas (Offspring), Christine Bartlett (Playing for Keeps), Leigh McGrath (Harrow), Nathan Mayfield (Tidelands), and Tracey Robertson (Tidelands), Five Bedrooms is produced by Hoodlum Entertainment with assistance from Film Victoria. Nathan Mayfield and Tracey Robertson serve as executive producers alongside co-executive producers and writers Michael Lucas and Christine Bartlett. The series is co-funded by Sky Studios, Network Ten, and Screen Australia.

Five Bedrooms: Season 2, a Peacock Original series, premieres in the US with all eight episodes on Thursday, August 19, exclusively on Peacock, where you can catch up on Season 1 for free before the new season arrives.
