Peregrine Fisher will be doing more sleuthing when Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries returns to telly with a brand new season.
One of my favorite new Down Under TV series in 2019 was Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, a spinoff of the Australian sensation Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Set in Melbourne during the swinging ’60s, it follows Peregrine Fisher (Logie Award-nominated Geraldine Hakewill, Wanted), the spirited niece of private detective Phryne Fisher, as she inherits a windfall from her famous aunt and sets out to become an exceptional sleuth in her own right.
Series 2 of Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, an Acorn TV Original series, premieres Monday, June 7, on Acorn TV in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The new season will launch with two of its eight episodes, and new episodes will debut weekly through July 19.
As murders continue to plague the streets of 1964 Melbourne, daring detective Peregrine Fisher tackles her trickiest assignment yet: juggling her career, the busy life of an Adventuress, and her romance with Detective James Steed (Joel Jackson, Mystery Road).
While Peregrine investigates cases at an air hostess school, a dog show, and a bowling alley, amongst others, Birdie Birnside (Catherine McClements, Tangle) reignites her spying career with an old flame, and Violetta (Louisa Mignone, Rake) and Samuel (Toby Truslove, Bad Mothers) struggle to contain their passion.
Reprising their roles for Series 2 are Greg Stone (Glitch) as Chief Inspector Percy Sparrow and Katie Robertson (Five Bedrooms) as Constable Fleur Connor.
A project of Every Cloud Productions, Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries is executive produced by series creators Fiona Eagger and Deb Cox (both of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Newton’s Law). Peter Mattessi is co-executive producer, and Donald Klees is the executive producer for Acorn Media Enterprises.
