Acorn TV has secured the US rights to My Life Is Murder, the new mystery drama series starring Lucy Lawless.
In My Life is Murder, Lucy Lawless (Ash vs Evil Dead, Spartacus, Xena: Warrior Princess) plays Alexa Crowe, a private investigator who can’t help fighting the good fight — whether it’s solving murders or combating the small frustrations of everyday life.
Fearless and unapologetic, Alexa’s unique skills and insights into the darker quirks of human nature allow her to provoke, comfort, and push the right buttons as she unravels the truth behind the most baffling of crimes.
As Alexa unmasks the hidden passions and dangerous secrets lurking in the energetic, ever-changing city of Melbourne, she is ably assisted by ambitious twenty-something Madison Feliciano, who is not so quietly learning from the best.
Detective Inspector Keiran Hussy, Alexa’s former boss, enlists her on his trickiest cases, with the understanding that it also means he gets to keep an eye on what she’s up to now.
Then there’s Captain Thunderbolt — aka Alexa’s stubborn cat, Madison’s nemesis, Keiran’s biggest fan, and the one personality Alexa will never quite crack.
At the center of everything, though, in all her glory is the complex, contrary and compelling Alexa Crowe — ultimately making My Life is Murder a show about a woman who refuses to give in. Or give up. Or shut up.
Currently filming in Melbourne, the ten-part HD series is a CJZ Production with investment from Network Ten in association with Screen Australia and financed with support from Film Victoria.
The drama’s writing team includes Peter Gawler (Wolf Creek), Tim Pye (The Doctor Blake Mysteries), Ainslie Clouston (Playing for Keeps), Matt Ford (Farscape), Monica Zanetti (Sisters), and Paul Bennett (House of Hancock). In addition to starring in the series, Lucy Lawless also serves as an executive producer.
My Life is Murder will make its US debut on Acorn TV following its premiere broadcast on Australia’s Network Ten in 2019.
Stay tuned for updates.
