Season 1 follows Summer Torres, a rebellious American teen who, after being expelled from school, is sent to live with family friends in the small surfing town of Shorehaven in Victoria, Australia. Here she makes waves amongst a young surfer’s inner circle, ultimately finding family and friendship.

Filming of Season 2 has started on the iconic beaches and stunning surf coast found along the Great Ocean Road on Wadawurrung Country in Victoria.

The new season sees Summer return to Shorehaven and stun her Aussie mates with her newfound surf skills. As she pursues her surfing dream, she’ll contend with roller coaster romances, a mysterious new coach, and a rival surfer determined to take her down.

Reprising their roles for Season 2 are Sky Katz (Raven’s Home) as Summer, Kai Lewins (The Twelve) as Ari Gibson, João Gabriel Marinho as Marlon Sousa, Savannah La Rain (Mako Mermaids) as Bodhi Mercer, and real-life reigning Open Women’s Queensland Surf Champion Lilliana ‘Lil’ Bowrey as Poppy Tetanui.

Joining the Season 2 cast are Olympia Valance (Neighbours) as Elo, Annabel Wolfe (Black Snow) as Wren, and Josh MacQueen (Black Snow) as Baxter.

Created by Joanna Werner and Josh Mapleston and produced by Werner Film Productions for ZDF Studios and Netflix, Surviving Summer: Season 2 is directed Sian Davies (Wentworth), along with Christian Van Vuuren (Bloom). The series received production support from Vic Screen.

Season 1 of Surviving Summer is currently streaming on Netflix.
