Netflix has announced that the new Australian family film, Allen, is now in production, with principal photography taking place in Queensland’s Brisbane and Gold Coast.

Allen is a heartwarming tale of friendship and adventure, set against the backdrop of a Queensland coastal town. It is created by Daley Pearson (Talk to Me, The Strange Chores, Content), who co-wrote it with Sophie Miller (Thou Shalt Not Steal) and directs it with Jeffrey Walker (Apple Cider Vinegar, The Artful Dodger).
Said Pearson:
“Allen is really a story about love, family and all those big and small moments from childhood that end up shaping who we are when we grow up. Getting the opportunity to make this story in *this part of the world – in the town where I grew up in, inspired by the friends and family I grew up with – is a dream. We’re creating Allen for families to watch together.”
A production of Ludo Studio (Bluey, Thou Shalt Not Steal), the film is executive produced by Pearson, Charlie Aspinwall for Ludo Studio, and Sophie Miller. The producers are Sam Moor for Ludo Studio and Ross Allsop, with Lauren Brown serving as co-producer for Ludo Studio. It is supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy and the Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Incentive.
Allen will be released globally on Netflix (date tba). Stay tuned for updates.
