A fixture on UK telly, Jo Joyner (Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators, Ackley Bridge, Stay Close, EastEnders) traveled down to Australia to film the mystery thriller miniseries Riptide, in which she plays a newlywed whose world is suddenly turned upside down.

Briton Alison Weston (Jo Joyner) has recently married her new husband, Aussie Sean Weston (Peter O’Brien, Neighbours, Tidelands, Underbelly). While her daughter, Hannah (Asher Yasbincek, Heartbreak High), and his son, Ethan (Ben Turland, Neighbours), don’t exactly get on, the couple are trying to combine two families into one happy one under the same roof. Meanwhile, Alison’s ex-husband, Michael (Ciarán Griffiths, Coronation Street), is still on the scene…

One day, Sean goes out for a morning surf, but doesn’t return. What could have happened? Did he get caught in a riptide (or rip current)? Without his body, the police conclude that Sean died from an accidental drowning. Alison isn’t so sure, though, and sets out to investigate her husband’s disappearance. The more Alison learns, the more she suspects something sinister happened to him.

Riptide premieres in the US and Canada on Tuesday, June 17, exclusively on MHz Choice and its digital channels, including MHz Choice on Prime Channels.

Also featuring in the series are David Berry (A Place to Call Home), Alexandra Fowler (Wentworth), Yazeed Daher (Safe Harbour), Sonya Suares (Five Bedrooms), Pia Miranda (Darby and Joan), and Benjamin Samaddar, amongst others.
