NATIONAL PREMIERES

Last Days of the Space Age (AU)

Set in 1979, when history is at a turning point and everything is about to change, this drama follows three families in a tight-knit coastal community in Perth. The capital of Western Australia is at the center of the world’s headlines: It’s about to host the iconic Miss Universe pageant, creating a media frenzy around the global beauty pageant contest. Ditto news outlets tripping over themselves to cover the US space station, Skylab, as it crashes just beyond Perth’s suburbs. Then there’s a power strike, which threatens to plunge the region into darkness.

Against this backdrop of international cultural and political shifts, these three seemingly ordinary families will soon find their marriages, friendships, and futures put to the test in a city that will never be the same.

The eight-part series stars Radha Mitchell (Troppo, Neighbours), Jesse Spencer (Chicago Fire, House), Deborah Mailman (Total Control, Offspring), Linh-Dan Pham (Mythomaniac, Mr. Nobody), Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Jack Taylor), George Mason (My Life Is Murder, Top of the Lake), Vico Thai (Total Control, Rake), Ines English (Dead Lucky, Dance Academy: The Movie), Jacek Koman (Faraway Downs, Jack Irish), Mackenzie Mazur (Encounter, Sapphire), Emily Grant (RFDS, Pearly Gates), Thomas Weatherall (Heartbreak High, RFDS), and Aidan Du Chiem.

Last Days of the Space Age, a Hulu Original, premieres in the US on Wednesday, October 2, exclusively on Hulu. The series launches internationally on the same date on Disney+.

Territory (formerly Desert King) (AU)

Set in the Australian Outback, this western drama series is about power, family, land, and legacy. When the world’s largest cattle station, one the size of Wales, is left without a clear successor, generational clashes threaten to tear the Lawson family apart. Sensing this once-great dynasty is in decline, the outback’s most powerful factions — rival cattle barons, desert gangsters, Indigenous elders, and billionaire miners — move in for the kill.

Starring as the Lawsons are Anna Torv (The Newsreader, Mindhunter, Fringe) as Emily Lawson, Michael Dorman (Joe Pickett, For All Mankind) as Graham Lawson, Robert Taylor (The Newsreader, Longmire) as Colin Lawson, Sam Corlett (Vikings: Valhalla, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Marshall Lawson, Philippa Northeast (In Limbo, Home and Away) as Susie Lawson, and Jake Ryan (Home and Away) as Daniel Lawson.

The cast of the six-episode drama also includes Sara Wiseman (A Place to Call Home) as Sandra Kirby, Dan Wyllie (Love My Way) as Hank Hodge, Clarence Ryan (Mystery Road: Origin) as Nolan Brannock, Jay Ryan (Scrublands) as Campbell Miller, Joe Klocek (Nowhere Boys) as Lachie Kirkby, Kylah Day (Itch) as Sharnie Kennedy, Sam Delich (RFDS) as Rich Petrakis, Hamilton Morris (Sweet Country) as Uncle Bryce, Tuuli Narkle (Mystery Road: Origin) as Keeley Redford, and Tyler Spencer as Dezi.

Territory, a Netflix series, premieres globally on Thursday, October 24, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)

Late Night with the Devil (AU-US-UAE)

This critically-acclaimed horror film centers on the goings-on at the syndicated late-night talk show Night Owls, hosted by Jack Delroy (David Dastmalchian, Oppenheimer, Dune). It’s long been a trusted companion to insomniacs across the country, but a year on from the tragic death of Jack’s wife, ratings have plummeted. Desperate to turn his fortunes around, Jack plans the show’s 1977 Halloween special to be a one-of-a-kind event, unaware that he is about to unleash evil into America’s living rooms.

Costars include Laura Gordon (Reckoning), Ian Bliss (Wentworth), Fayssal Bazzi (Total Control), Ingrid Torelli (Five Bedrooms), Rhys Auteri (A Good Deed), Georgina Haig (Back to the Rafters), and Josh Quong Tart (Underbelly).

Late Night with the Devil begins streaming Saturday, October 19, on Hulu.
