Hulu has set the US premiere date for the brand new season of Aussie youth drama First Day, which launches on the same date as its debut in Australia.
Based on the short film of the same name, First Day centers on Hannah Bradford (Evie Macdonald), a transgender girl navigating her way through high school and her transition.
Following on from the events in Season 1, the new four-episode season sees Hannah in her second year at Hillview High School, where she runs for Class Captain. However, in so doing she exposes an underlying level of transphobia amongst her classmates. So Hannah starts a group for LGBTQIA+ students but risks alienating her closest friends, Olivia (Elena Liu) and Natalie (Nandini Rajagopal), in the process.
First Day: Season 2 premieres in the US in its entirety on Thursday, March 31, exclusively on Hulu.
Written, directed, and co-produced by Julie Kalceff (Neighbours), the internationally-acclaimed series won for its first season an International Emmy Kids Award for Best Live Action Series; a GLAAD Media Award (Children and Youth), which honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBTQIA+ community; and the Kidscreen Award for Best Live-Action Series.
A production of South Australia’s Epic Films in association with Kojo Studios, the series costars Jackson Evans and Jo Hunt (Home and Away).
